JANUARY ESTATES SALE

Location: 2100 28 Side Road, Moffat, Ontario
Date: January 9-19, 2023
January 9-19, 2023 A wide ranging auction with decorated stoneware and Canadian collections, along with Inuit sculptures, Canadian prints and paintings, early lighting, fruit jars, movie posters, proof coins, MCM, art pottery, porcelain, sterling, antique tools, etc.

This online auction brings together two lifetime antique collections with smaller estates and selected additions from Hamilton, London, Jarvis, Guelph & Trenton.

One collector focussed exclusively on Brantford potteries, collecting over 40 pieces of decorated stoneware and redware by Welding, Welding & Belding, Goold, and Morton & Bennett.

In helping to settle an estate for probate and prepare the home for the real estate market, Visbids added a collection of Ontario and Quebec antiques. There are some tremendous case pieces including an arch door, raised panel, Western Ontario corner cupboard, a breakdown Quebec pine linen press, a painted open dish cupboard, all early 19th C. Early kerosene and electric lighting, toleware, a bronze reliquary door, aqua Beaver fruit jars and arts & crafts chandeliers round out the antiques from the estate. Many of these items were found in the attic wrapped up in newspaper that hadn’t been touched since the 1980’s.

Visbids helped several collectors in their downsizing adding Inuit carvings, costume jewellery, oil paintings, Stanley 45 and 78 planes, other wooden molding planes, Ontario decoys, and Dion pottery to the auction offerings.

One collector consigned American and English art pottery pieces from companies like Weller, Haegar, Owens, Roseville, Moorcroft & Royal Winton. We also discovered in the mix a fascinating Art Nouveau Osiris metal vase by Walter Sherf.

We often travel outside the GTA, GTHA or Niagara Peninsula to collect consignments – in Trenton we secured a collection of cornflower, depression glass, kerosene lighting and English porcelains. One interesting collection of sterling, Stuart crystal, rugs and paintings came from a family relocating to BC from Ontario.

Another motivation for collectors is to see a return on their investments – in this case a collection of mint and proof coins such as a Canadian 22 KT. $100 gold coin, and a sterling US $100 Washington Mint bill. There are 17 lots of coins in our Visbids on-line auction.

Visbids auctions are curated and offer a variety of top quality items. We hope you will take the time to pour over the antiques and vintage items that have been collected by past generations in this listing under visbids.hibid.com.
