Sometimes our sales at Visbids have a specific focus- or at least a theme we can tease out! This spring sale is a selection from many different consignors, all with unique passions and collections. Be sure to look carefully, and expect the unexpected!
We have a large selection of vintage toys and games, including at least 30 different vintage tabletop hockey games- some from as early as the 30’s, and many in their original boxes. For many of us they will bring back memories of hard fought family battles at the kitchen table- when screens weren’t the default form of entertainment for kids! Check out the nearly mint Cresta board from the 50’s , with players holding bent metal rods for hockey sticks. Also on offer is a Buddy L pickup truck in daffodil yellow, in its original box. We are selling the last of a storage locker’s worth of toys from a 50’s toy dealer- windup and remote control cars, in their original cardboard boxes. The Lehmann’s mechanical tin monkey from the 30’s is an amazing find. In excellent condition, and made with all the ingenuity the German are famous for, this little monkey climbs, using his arms and legs as you pull the string through his body.
There is a nice selection of lawn and garden items, including 2 spectacular antique cast iron urns. Very unusual, in shape and design, they would be a showstopper on any back deck or garden. Our Lawnboy Silver series gas lawnmower is the gold standard in mowers. It’s in very clean condition and has clearly been well cared for and maintained. If your workshop needs replenishing, we have plenty of tools, old and new, including a new, in the box, gas generator and a fabulous antique floor vice. Continuing in our spring outdoor theme is a cherry red electric Revelo bicycle, tested and ready to go. An early, signed Peterboro oak splint picnic basket and a vintage¬† English Brexton picnic set, complete with wicker basket and cleverly fitted dishes and cutlery, is the perfect find for anyone who likes their dining al frescoe. A selection of new patio furniture, planters and stands, and large, colourfully glazed ceramic pots for your deck should cover your garden needs.
For the home, we have many different lighting options, ranging from the spare, clean lines of an Arts and Crafts hanging fixture to the over the top colour and embellishment of our capodimonte table lamps. A very colorful acrylic hanging lamp from the 70’s would look great hanging in any MCM themed dining or living room, and conversely our large selection of antique oil lamps, both converted and decorative, would fit in perfectly with any Victorian decor.
For anyone looking to outfit a home or professional office space, our custom made, MCM, walnut executive’s desk, credenza and file cabinet are truly unique. Manufactured by Art Woodworking Ltd, in Montreal, they are statement pieces, well made and functional. To further compliment any mid century home, we have a selection of teak furniture, including a signed, Holmen Danish rosewood sideboard and teak dining chairs.
Worthy of mention is our collection of small, exquisitely carved Inuit sculptures. Of bone, antler and soapstone, many are signed, and come with federal certification cardboard tags.
This is a large, interesting auction, that is worth an in person preview. Please feel free to call John at 416 453 0920 to set up an appointment at our Brantford location.
