Visbids’ online June Auction puts the spotlight on decorating your home with mid- century furnishings, art deco, Persian carpets or Asian arts. There are some dramatic items worthy of special attention.
The sale has a good selection of early lighting. The lights would work well in a mid-century home or accent a room with modern furnishings. There is a tall Deco floor lamp with a hand wrought metal base and an iridescent fan shaped shade. An equally stunning Deco lamp is the wrought iron floor lamp with a bowl shaped spatter glass shade in the manner of Paul Kiss. We haven’t been able to make any formal attribution to Kiss 1885-1952, who was a French designer whose work in the 1920’s and 1930’s is sought out worldwide.
For those whose tastes run to mid-century one highlight there is a dual gooseneck lamp with integral table. For those outfitting their office or library there is an early brass desk lamp with a green cased glass shade. For the living room a great accent piece would be the pear shaped table lamp made of hand blown glass with contrasting dark and light swirls.
There are many examples of comfortable and stylish seating. There are mid-century benches, footstools, and chairs including a Ligna Bentwood chair. There’s even something for your favourite pooch. Wouldn’t it be fun to buy your dog a plaid upholstered mid-century dog bed. Maybe not for your Rottweiler or Bouvier but a stylish bed for your Highland terrier or Yorkie.

The sale has everything from juice-a-matics to stylish cook ware to Franco Pozzi Op Art decanters to ice crushers. You can even enjoy outdoor dining using the Coracle picnic set or packing your lunch in a vintage tin picnic hamper.
If you have a man cave or woman retreat, garage or den that needs sprucing up we have several road signs. As always we have a good selection of antique and vintage furniture. The Deco expandable day bed is beautifully upholstered with buttoned back cushions in a rose fabric. The Deco side table is topped with birds eye maple and supported on a well- designed chrome base. There is a quality rosewood chest of drawers and a very unusual slant front desk. The rosewood desk with mirrored interior slides forward when you open the lid so that it provides a comfortable overhanging work surface. It is a very scarce form of desk.
